FAQ'SĀ
so your thinking about pole dancing classes but first....

To help you start your journey with us here at Amplified, we have created this page with a whole bunch of common questions and informatrion that you may find usefullĀ  about attending our classes. If you still have anything you want o know or discuss please do contact us using our online form here

What should i wear?

Initially for beginner level pole , we would suggest shorts(above the knee) so we can have adequate skin grip for spins and poses.A short sleeve T-Shirt or top to allow for bicep and arm skin grip and also so we can roll up the top for the occasional waist grip. When students progress up to higher levels they then need a bit more of a variety of grip points available. Make sure it is comfortable clothing to move around in and not too restrictive.

What should i avoid wearing ?

The main things to avoid wearing is :

  • restricive clothing

  • jewlery

  • moisturisor or skin oils (anything that leaves a residue as this can hinder your grip but also the other students)

But I am too *insert concern here (big/old/short/unfit/inflexible etc) can i still attend ?

Of course you can ! Pole is for everyone, no matter of age, gender, fitness level, shape, size etc. Amplified Pole Dancing is an inclusive space designed to make EVERYBODY feel at home. You do not need to have any previous experience in stregnth/gym or dance or any kind of history in order to start classes with us.

is there anyone who cant come to classes at Amplified?

there isn't many exclusions to attending classes here , as we try to be as inclusive as possible . there are a few restrictrictions to who can attend classes :

  • under 18s ( due to our insurance policies we are unable to teach people under 18 years old)

  • under 6 weeks postpartum natural births and under 8 weeks post partum for c sections ( medically and insurance based reasons - please have your 6 week doctors check prior to returning to get cleared for exercise .if your not cleared were not insured!)

  • post operative without clearance from your consultant ( for the same reason as above)

what about if i have a medical condition/disability/neurodivergency?

Most of the time we can make pole classes accesible for those with medical conditions and disabilities. with adaptions to the movements as well as tweaks in how we teach to ensure eveyone understands and feels supported in their learning during class. Our differencesd are what makes us unique! But if you still have questions or reservations about how we can help please dont hesitate to contact us and we can discuss how we can make sure the classes work for you.

What happens during a typical Pole class at Amplified?

Our standard weekly pole classes are 1 hour long.During this hour you will:

  • Take part in a fully guided warmup to get your body ready for the movements in class.

  • complete conditioning drills to activate and build muscle awarenessĀ

  • learn skills, spins, tricks (the main lesson that is planned)

  • follow a cool-down lead by the instructor to finish

Does pole dancing hurt?

We arent going to lie to you, Pole Dancing is hard work.

You will probably ache all over the day after your first class. This is why we include a warm up and cool down in the lessons to help minimise this. Learning the stretches given to you in class, and repeating them at home can help massively.

When learning new pole tricks, especially on the legs bruising is very common. Bruising will subside as your body learns how not to hurt itself in each move.It can be reduced though by applying an ice pack, or you can try arnica or witch hazel. Pole burns are also common and are actually friction burn from gripping the pole with your skin. Again, this gets better with time as your body gets used to the pole. Pole burn can be easily treated with an aloe vera aftersun gel.
